I'm enjoying the sets of silhouette cards made by finali designs. I always like cards that can be used for several different occasions. It makes for less paper pile up in my office.

longneck vases

Inexpensive and charming bud vases. I like the simplicity.

let's get cheesy

These are the most divine cheese muffins you'll ever eat! Loads and loads of yummy cheese. I do them mini-muffin size, which of course makes them even better because they're mini!

the playroom::part 2

I love the movie The Holiday for lots of reasons, but one of them is that totally awesome tent in the little girls' room. Ever since I saw that, I wanted to make something similar for my kids. This Christmas I put my plan into action. Now, the one from the movie is like the Taj Mahal compared to my little copycat, but it serves its purpose well.

I'm still going to tweak a few things to make it bigger, and add some pillows to go inside. My original color scheme for this room was black & white. I made the tent out of fabric scraps I had on hand, which happened to be mostly blue, as you can see. So it's turned into more of a colorful room.

I'm sure you're tired of me talking about Blik wall graphics, but here they are again! I got these gears a long time ago for this space, and just put them up.

And here's their little workspace - our old kitchen table. They have a playdoh station, and crayons/scissors/paper hanging in one of these. I also made a poster of pictures taken of the kids playing, hanging above the table.

the playroom::part 1

Time to continue with where I get all my decorating ideas. You can find my first series here. On to the playroom - finally finished! Well, nothing is ever really finished with me because I'm always changing things, and I still need to add curtains at some point, but I'm happy with how it is at the moment.
The first thing I wanted to do in there was get the books organized. I saw this picture in the May 2008 issue of Better Homes & Gardens

and fell in love with the idea of having our whole library on display so the kids could see everything, and hopefully we wouldn't be repeating books as often. I tried to find a shallow bookshelf like the one pictured, but no luck. So we did it with 4 Ikea shelves (found here) that fit perfectly on our skinny wall. They have a lip so the books don't slide off, and I adore this oh-so-lovely wall.

Don't let this picture fool you - it's not usually this organized, and the bottom 2 shelves are almost always empty. The culprit?...my almost-2-yr-old, who loves to "read" through books like she's eating candy. Hey, it's just a playroom, and they're supposed to be messy!

hoo hoo

I'm obsessed with owl things lately. Here are some cuties from Anthro.

oooo la la

This might have to be the next book I treat myself to!

whoa mama!

This makes me laugh...slab on some whale oil when your growing tummy is making you feel a little whalish!

the journal for me

...but it's out of stock, wah! She says she's coming up with more designs, so hopefully it will be something similar. I'm not a big journaler. Wish I was better, but just can't get myself to do it on a regular basis. I've been telling myself that my family blog is my current journal, but I don't write about anything real personal. SO, I need to pick myself up one of these. It's fill-in-the-blank journaling, something that would only take a few minutes each night. And something that I can handle. Plus, it comes in all sorts of fun prints on the cover!

baby eye candy

I can't get over how cute the clothes are at rocker baby. I'm especially in love with that navy polka dot dress.
